Team Outing
Friday for me is always a fun day, that way most of the days are. Right from the school days Friday was most awaited day of the week, mainly because of the next half day of school and some TV programs. As such no reason is required for me to be happy about any Friday; but there was for the last Friday. I was pretty much excited to go for ‘Leadership and Team Building’ program organized by my company.
Place was ‘Parkfield Resotel’ in Hoskote around 40 KMs from Bangalore city. Parkfield is a resort cum hotel with a five star rating, exotically spread across 35 acres.
It was decided to start around 6:30 AM for the place, giving me a glorious opportunity to see sunrise after many years. Opportunity given was successful; we reached around 8 in the morning. Had a grand breakfast and then moved to see trainer who had taken up task of building our team. And here we met ‘Cheerful Chieny’, ‘Sweet Shreenidhi’, ‘Peaceful Praveen’ and ‘Regal Regan’ from Oscar Murphy International popularly known as OMI. This organization has a mission of empowering potential of every human being. Empowering and all…..I am not too sure, but these people surely have powerful methodologies, powerful personalities.
It started with an introduction where team of 18 was asked to introduce themselves with an adjective attached to a name starting with a first alphabet of their name, like ‘Awesome Aarati’ ;-) Introduction also included small tests to check IQ and EQ of the team as a whole. And I must say trainers were pretty astonished seeing our performance.
It was a full day activity including many games like river crossing, Hupla, Pipeline, James Bond says, Blind man game, land skiing and water game. Each game needed focusing on certain skills as a team. With each game the fun was doubled compared to previous one. Game of pipeline was simplest (When we saw), team was asked to hold a pipe at the height of around 4 feet from the ground, and the objective was just to put down the pipe on the ground. Looks simple right? We also thought the same. It took 45 minutes to team of 18 people to put down that pipe on the ground. None the less it involved noisy brainstorming sessions going on in parallel between many small groups of the team, blaming each other, shouting at each other, strategizing the task…starting from small groups of 4 people and slowly increasing to all 18. All efforts succeeded in 45 minutes. Huh…..
After super duper grand lunch we played Hupla. Team was asked to form an open chain by holding each others hand and a small close ended rope was to be used to scan each person in the link. Blind man game involved groups of three, one being blind-folded and other two guiding him/her to reach moving target standing outside the game field. Poor blind-folded players who tried hard to listen to their team members among other twelve members shouting at their peak to guide their own player. Needles to say irrespective of kind of water game everybody enjoyed being in water.
This was the first time when I went for a team outing and for sure I enjoyed a lot. Enjoyment, fun and joy would not have been so great if other team members would not have been there. Truly a great team outing.
Is anyone getting the message that my knowledge is expanded about the places in & around the city....
